ExxonMobil to restart work in Cabo Delgado with a final investment decision expected next year

Further design work on ExxonMobil’s multi-billion-dollar liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Cabo Delgado province is expected to get underway this year, one of the project’s shareholders has announced. On an earnings call with investors on Monday, an executive from Galp Energia, the Portuguese energy holding company, said that ExxonMobil would launch front end engineering design on its project, known as Rovuma LNG, this year, and that Galp expected a final investment decision (FID) on the project to be made next year.
