Donors ‘open to possibility’ of restoring Mozambique budget support

The main western donor countries to Mozambique have told the Maputo government that they are open to the possibility of restarting budget support, if the two sides can agree on a set of reforms and “corrective measures” to restore donor confidence in the government following the ProIndicus, MAM, and EMATUM revelations.

However, the top diplomat at one of the members of the group of 14 general budget support donors, known as the G14, told Zitamar News this week that the donors also want to see “a level of accountability for whoever was involved in these transactions.”
