Financing delay forces TotalEnergies to dismiss workers from gas project

TotalEnergies is waiting for a US state-backed loan to be re-confirmed as it seeks to restart work after four years of delay

French energy firm TotalEnergies is to dismiss at least 700 workers at the construction site for its liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Cabo Delgado province, Zitamar News has learned.

The move may dampen some of the positive energy coming from President Daniel Chapo’s meeting with three multinational energy firms in the province this week, where they reaffirmed their commitment to proceed with the offshore LNG projects they are leading.
