Good afternoon. In Friday’s Daily Briefing we included a report from website Carta de Moçambique saying that the town of Quissanga in Cabo Delgado province had been captured by insurgents. We have since been assured that the story was incorrect and that the insurgents did not enter the town, although they were nearby. The story was plausible, given how effective they have been in moving around the province and carrying out attacks in new areas. The administrator of Quissanga district reacted by angrily accusing journalists of fabricating information (see below).
