Four years later, the disappearance of journalist Ibraimo Mbaruco points to the impunity of the security forces in Cabo Delgado

Good afternoon. The official closure of the investigation into the disappearance of journalist Ibraimo Mbaruco in April 2020 merely confirms what has been obvious for years now: nobody is going to be brought to justice over the matter. People familiar with the case will remember that Mbaruco, a journalist with community radio in Cabo Delgado province’s Palma district, went missing shortly after sending a text message saying he was “surrounded by the military”.
