Look for solutions, not obstacles

The electoral authorities should work constructively to let Venâncio Mondlane’s coalition stand in October’s elections

Good afternoon. Presidential hopeful Venâncio Mondlane is warning that the National Elections Commission (CNE) is trying to throw obstacles in the way of his candidacy (see below) — but this is not quite right. Mondlane’s candidacy for the Mozambican presidential election in October looks safe, and has already been approved by the Constitutional Council. Where the CNE is raising objections is with the right of his backers, the Democratic Alliance Coalition (CAD), to field candidates in the parliamentary and provincial elections taking place on the same day.
