Mozambique eyes fertilizer production using Vale’s abandoned phosphate project

The Mozambique government is trying to drum up interest in a phosphates deposit in northern Mozambique that Brazilian mining giant Vale abandoned 2014, Zitamar News has learned.

The Evate deposit in Monapo, province of Nampula, is being touted as a potential complement to cheap domestic gas to feed into a fertiliser project that the government wants to encourage under its gas master plan.
