Mozambique gold mines leave locals exposed to dirt, dust and damage


In several villages in Manica province, gold mining companies have failed to resettle families living as close as five metres to open-cast mines, in defiance of Mozambique’s mining law

Mining developers exploring gold deposits around the town of Machipanda, in the central Mozambican province of Manica, have failed to resettle households affected by their works since they began two years ago, according to local residents.
