Portuguese water utility Águas de Portugal (AdP) is believed to be eyeing a return to water provision in Mozambique, under a rumoured plan by national water utility FIPAG to re-privatise provision in parts of the country on a regional basis.

Residents of Mozambique’s capital, Maputo, and the neighbouring city of Matola, will have its water supply turned off every other day starting from Tuesday, 10 January, due to a severe reduction in the water level at the dam that serves the city.
