Good afternoon. Regional troops from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have all but finished leaving Cabo Delgado province, at the end of a nearly three-year mission to fight the insurgency there. Contrary to what defence minister Cristóvão Chume says (see below), they have not fulfilled their mission, which was to neutralise the insurgent threat, and most of the districts Chume mentioned as being under control are in fact still being occupied, attacked or threatened by insurgents. In fact, insurgents have managed to hold the town of Mucojo and the surrounding area for about two months now, the first time they have held a town since losing Mocímboa da Praia in 2022.
