IMF-mandated austerity for Mozambique?

That monetary and fiscal policy interact is undeniable; it would be better for the respective authorities to coordinate more, to allow Mozambique’s economy to grow while keeping inflation under control

Good… afternoon. This is yesterday’s delayed Daily; today’s will follow later this afternoon. More “personal circumstances”: our founding editors welcomed a third baby boy yesterday afternoon, just as the Daily was close to completion. Thank you again for understanding. Mother and baby and all are doing very well.

The main news of the day was a report in A Verdade of a new round of austerity in the civil service. People who leave will only be replaced at a ratio of one to three; and no new hires should be made for the rest of this year.
