Insurgents torch Meluco village, killing one

Insurgents this morning attacked the village of Iba, which is in Meluco district but sits just 17km from the town of Macomia

An armed group attacked the village of Iba in the Meluco district of Cabo Delgado this morning, killing one villager and burning 60 homes, according to local sources.


The attack occurred at around 8am on Monday 17 March, with the assailants having travelled from the village of Nguida to Iba, which is located around 17 km southwest of the town of Macomia.

Iba falls under the administrative post of Muaguide, in the district of Meluco. At the time of writing, the group was reported to be in the Mariria area, in the west of the administrative post of Muaguide.
