Mozambique still discussing north-south gas pipeline projects, regulator says

Pipeline projects to bring gas from the Rovuma Basin gas fields in northern Mozambique into South Africa, “are still under discussion” Isabel Chuvambe, Project and Development Manager at Mozambique’s petroleum regulator INP told Zitamar News on Thursday.

The Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy did not allocate any gas to pipelines in its domestic gas tender, but one of the projects it did select –  a 250 MW power plant proposed by GL Africa Energy – would require the construction of a pipeline running from Palma, in the far north of Mozambique, to Nacala, around 600 km to the south.
