Islamic State-affiliated news outlet Amaq News Agency released dramatic footage of intense fighting in the Muidumbe district of Cabo Delgado, likely depicting clashes around Mandava on Saturday 29 April. Insurgent fighters are seen firing assault rifles, with one carrying a light machine gun.
The clashes claimed the lives of at least five government soldiers. Insurgents withdrew after several hours of fighting when reinforcements from the Botswana Defence Force arrived. Casualties were evacuated to Pemba for treatment. Read Zitamar’s report here:
Not all, but some. After a number of brigade members was caught working extra hours at night in Gurué in Zambézia, and Chiure, Cabo Delgado, over the weekend a new case was revealed in Ribaué, Nampula.
This time, the brigade members, including the district leader were caught dealing with voter cards in Iapala, 40km away, at the house of the local Frelimo delegate, who is on the party's list as a contender in the October municipal elections.
